I recently asked Deborah if she would be so kind to hang one of my paintings in her practice. Ever since I became an artist, I hoped to see one of my pieces on the wall of Physiofit Woman. Why there, you may ask? That’s the important question. The main reason is this – I believe Deborah and I have something in common – a passion for helping people, a passion for healing people, a passion for taking away their pain.
I know that because I spent many hours on the treatment table in Sandyford under Deborah’s hands. As far as I am concerned the only reason I walked during my second pregnancy is because I was lucky to find her. She is amazing at healing our bodies, the purpose of my art is to heal hearts.
I am a young mother to two small children, they are 3 and 1 year old. When I had my first child, I gave up my job in banking. I have a Degree in Irish Law and Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Law. When I became a mother, both my husband and I decided that I was going to stay at home with our children for a long time. I actually did not mind that at all as working in the office was never something that I imagined myself doing for the rest of my life. On the other hand I was completely lost and did not have a clue what I was going to do.
If anyone at that stage told me that someday I was going to paint and actually sell my paintings, I would probably laugh out loud. I reached for brushes and started painting because I needed to heal myself, I suffered very badly with post natal depression and this was my way out, my way up from the very bottom of me. I started writing poems and painting. It did not take long for me to realise that this is exactly what I was born to do – to create and to make a difference.
How do I make a difference? I specialise in custom painting and my aim is to create paintings that are either healing if necessary or paintings that become an essence of the best feelings that people experience in their lives and their relationships. My main aim is to create paintings that tell you your story in a coded way, paintings that include very subtle links through colour and details which will not be readable to anyone else but you and your loved ones.
One of the very important aspects of my art is including /acknowledging the spirits of lost babies. Many of my paintings actually represent lost spirits but you as the viewer will never know that. It is private and intimate. That’s what makes my art very special. I painted for people who are very ill with the aim of giving them hope, light and happiness on canvas, I painted for those who lost loved ones through death or separation. I painted happiness, love and contentment. Many of my paintings feature breastfeeding, baby wearing, some feature pregnancy, home birth and so on. What I always say to people is this – my art is abstract, everything is possible and my imagination has no limits. I simply portray your love so you can keep it in sight.
I hope to paint the piece for Deborah soon. It will portray the power of healing. It will be full of light, just like her hands on your sore, worn out body.
