Chilli, Garlic Prawns – Portuguese Style

WATCH THE VIDEO!

As promised, here’s a simple appetizer for the Festive Season: chilli, garlic prawns.

Those of you who have been to Portugal might be quite familiar with this dish. Early in the year I took my friend Therese (from Co. Mayo) to spend a weekend in Portugal. She tasted the chilli, garlic prawns and that was it… she was hooked for life! It’s so easy that I decided to make my first cooking video. Hope you like it! 🙂

Serves 4:

500g fresh prawns
4 garlic cloves
1 small chilli
Olive oil
Rock Salt
Lemon juice

Preparation

Peel and devein the prawns
Season with salt
Heat the olive oil
Once the olive oil is hot add the 4 diced garlic cloves
Let the garlic flavour the olive oil for one minute stirring all the time
Add the diced chilli (if you prefer more spicy don’t remove the chilli seeds)
Stir for one minute and add the prawns
Stir for 3 minutes or until the prawns get a golden colour – by now the smell is incredible!
Squeeze some lemon juice on top of the prawns.

And voila … ready to serve with some slices of bread or mini toasts.

Enjoy! 😀
